Home » Ways to De-Stress Before Your Wedding Day
Let’s be real; planning a wedding can be extremely stressful. And while a lot of different aspects are wonderful and exciting, sometimes it’s tedious and you need a break.
Something important to remember is that, if you are feeling overwhelmed or stressed, it’s okay to take a break. A lot of the time we worry about things that are not as important as we think and we forget to take time to relax and recharge.
Here is a list of simple ways you can rejuvenate yourself, both physically and mentally.
Get More Sleep
This probably sounds obvious and silly, but sometimes all you need is to catch up on your sleep. Consider taking a nap (if you’re able to), or simply going to bed earlier than you normally would. Getting an adequate amount of sleep is crucial to tackling wedding planning tasks and life in general.
Meditation
Meditation and can do wonders for you, both mentally and physically! It is known to help reduce stress and anxiety, and improve your focus and mood. You can find a video online or use an app to give you prompts and relaxing sounds as you meditate.
DIY Spa
Grab some bath bombs, facemasks, and lotion, and create your own spa at home! Get products that promote relaxation and are stress reducing. I highly recommend the Sleep Lotion by LUSH that is lavender scented and positively amazing.
Take a Hike
It’s amazing how stress relieving being outside in nature can be! Find a trail nearby, invite a friend or go solo, and get to hiking! The fresh air and exercise will be powerful aids in melting away your stress and anxiety.
Excersie
While we are on an active note, exercise in general is one of the best methods to relieve stress! When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins. Endorphins trigger a positive feeling in your body, resulting in feeling less stressed. Go for a run, walk, bike ride, or take a fitness class like zumba, yoga, spin, or simply lift weights. All are great ways to get you body moving. Make sure you do one that you enjoy!
Read a Book
Log off of your phone for a little bit and catch up on some reading! Make a trip to your local library or book shop and find a good book to read. Pair your reading with a nice cup of tea and get ready to feel incredibly relaxed.
Get A Massage
This is definitely a “treat yourself” way to relax, but sometimes that is just what you need! Book a full body massage to ensure all your knots and kinks are worked away. If you are worried about saving money, look on coupon apps, or contact a massage therapy school; they almost always have deals or specials going on.
Go Out with a Trusted Friend
I’m emphasizing on “trusted” friend because in order to feel less stressed, you need to be with someone you can completely trust and rely on. Plan a date filled with fun things, like going to a museum, getting a bite to eat, or even just simply grabbing some coffee, tea or an ice cream. Being with someone who will remind you that taking a break needs to be a priority, is key.
Bake Something
There is something absolutely calming and nostalgic about baking. Turn on some relaxing music and start baking to your heart’s content. Bake some extra cookies, cupcakes, or muffins to give to someone else as a nice little surprise.
Night In with Your S.O.
Plan a nice date night in with your significant other. Have a movie night, with popcorn and your favorite treats. Pick a comedy you both will enjoy, and laugh your stress away! It’s important to remember not to push away the people who love and care about you. They are there for you, so make sure you are open with how you are feeling.
That concludes my list! I hope you found these ways useful in helping relieve your stress and anxiety, especially when it comes to planning your wedding. Happy Planning!
