When it comes to our fabrics, we use soft luxurious fabrics, and many of our dresses come in at least two, if not several, colors. We have many types of satin, including a variety of weights, and some stretch. Our satin lining is fabulously soft and is one of the fabrics our customers have raved over for years. We have several kinds of tulle that we use, from super soft, to sparkly glitter tulle. Our super soft crepes come in a variety of weights, and different amounts of stretch, making them very versatile and comfortable to wear. Our laces, wow, they are gorgeous. From delicately beaded, heavily beaded, sequined, corded, flat, embroidered, crochet lace, should I keep going? We love lace! We also use chiffon, georgette, brocade and of course, organza!

If you know much about fiber content in fabrics, you will have heard of silk, polyester, cotton, etc. At Rachel Elizabeth, we use fabrics that are almost exclusively polyester, cotton, nylon and rayon, and usually some combination of these. Some of the laces and other ‘stretchy’ fabrics are made from polyether-polyurea copolymer, these you may know as spandex, lycra or elastane. These fabrics are often used in the sportswear industry, but we have some lovely stretch laces that include these compositions. We have only one dress so far made from 100% silk.

Many people will be very familiar with silk, but we actually do not use it much. Silk is a natural fiber that is used to make many fabrics, but over the years it has become less popular. It is very beautiful and very breathable, but it creases really badly. It is also really expensive. Due to advancements in the industry, we can now get polyester fabrics that are so luxurious, that to an untrained eye, they look and feel like silk. They are actually more durable that silk, wrinkle resistant, less likely to be damaged by sunlight and much less expensive.

At Rachel Elizabeth, we are constantly looking for not only beautiful fabrics, but comfortable fabrics. We want our brides to feel incredible in our dresses, not only when the dress is a perfect style, color and fit, but we want our brides to feel serene and relaxed in the dress of their dreams.
